Session Title: “Design Thinking enables Business Agility” By Haresh Amre ( Group Quality Head, Persistent Systems)

Session Abstract: Design Thinking is a mindset backed by a set of tools that gives us a powerful new way to solve the problems and unlock potential. It complements our existing approaches by focusing on understanding the human side of things.

Design Thinking is a human-centric development process that goes beyond the traditional focus on the features and functions of a proposed product. It emphasizes understanding the people and what objectives they are trying to achieve, the context in which the solution will be used, and the evolution of that solution.

Session will cover the approach of design thinking, explain the need for different mind-set and few key tools leveraged by the ‘designers’ and application of the same for ‘enterprise solution design’ and ‘product development’

Key Takeaways:

1. Business agility is about responding to market changes and emerging opportunities with agility & innovation
2. Design Thinking is a human-centric approach to achieve objectives by focusing on experience, efficiency and effectiveness
3. Design Thinking needs different mind-set compared to analytical and logical thinking
4. Design Thinking enables business model innovation, business process innovation and systematic capability development for innovation across the organization.

Session Title: “Design Thinking in Agile Delivery” By Prashant S (AVP, Tech Mahindra) and Sanjay Kothawade (Enterprise consultant, Tech Mahindra)

Session Abstract: Design Thinking is a new form of Collaboration to achieve innovation via creative thinking. It’s a methodology that promotes innovative ideas and creative way to problem-solving. Technical feasibility, Marketability and User centricity are key facets of design thinking, with latter being at core. ‘User’s needs’ is at the center and present in each step of the process with constant feedback
mechanism during the process that enables faster prototyping and testing. This approach of designing compliments Agile delivery
methodology for quicker IT deliveries.

Design Thinking as a concept got its due hype recently, but lot remains to be explored and explained. Questions like “How Design
Thinking affects ROI, time to Market, NPS and what can it accomplish?” have been asked by many. Find the answers to these
questions through the session on 22nd Feb.

Key Takeaways:

1. Design Thinking in a VUCA world for Business Agility
2. Methodologies for Design Thinking
3. How to bring in User centricity
4. Key business parameters impacted
5. How Agile delivery would be different with Design Thinking.

Session Title: “Design thinking for Delivery Effectiveness” By Animesh Tikariha (Project Manager, TietoEVRY)

Session Abstract: Design Thinking as we understand and how different roles in the organisation perceive it is different. It is a methodology to solve problems or a tool to analyze problems or it is a mindset to achieve desired results. It may be perceived differently at all the levels but the core is to understand the target user’s need and then proceed according to your role in the whole process of delivering a better product. Most of us think that Design Thinking is just limited to creating ‘User interfaces’ that are intuitive and highly usable. However, when it comes to implementation, Design thinking touches all the aspects and phases of software delivery, right from Business analysis to Development, Testing and Support. There is a need to pass on the Design Thinking concepts and techniques to the delivery teams such that they are used to deliver innovative, user-friendly and successful products with delivery efficiency in an agile world.

Key Takeaways:

1. Design thinking perceptions
2. Use of Design Thinking in software development
3. Create a customer/user centric mindset across the teams
4. Success in agile delivery
5. Improved productivity.
